Suicide Prevention & Education
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people in the United States. Suicide is a serious public health problem that can have lasting harmful effects on individuals, families, and communities which is why prevention is a collective effort that requires engagement from all educational partners. In an effort to reduce suicidal behavior, its impact on students and families, and other associated trauma, the Buena Park School District has adopted a suicide prevention policy which ensures measures, strategies, practices, and supports are developed for suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention.
