Emery has been chosen to participate in a Post Fellowship Year with the Cotsen Foundation.In the Post Fellowship Year, the school cohort chooses a signature practice to work towards together. Emery has chosen Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) as its focus and has been awarded two sustainability grants to fund CGI math professional development opportunities. The Strategic Opportunity Grant provides release time for teachers to visit other schools and observe CGI practice in action. Teachers also have the opportunity to work with a leading math instructor around the implementation of Number Sense Routines. The Alumni Study Grant gives teachers time to plan and structure their math block to meet students’ needs. It also provides math manipulatives for each classroom to enhance and deepen students’ grasps of essential math concepts.
